The audacity of your thoughts is most time underrated. Your thought is very powerful. In fact it is the most important power you possess. That is why you have to guard it with utmost care. It is unfortunate that most people are ignorant of the immense power they posses through there thoughts. That was why the great doctor and Nobel peace prize winner Albert Schweitzer while approached with a question of  what was wrong with men these days, the great doctor was silent for a minute and then replied: men simply don’t think!

What is your thought pattern? What is your belief system? Those who believe they can move mountains, do, and those who don’t, end up not moving anything. Most people do not put much stock in belief. Such people don’t believe in themselves.

I will pick a good story from the holy Bible. In Num 13, God directed Moses to pick 12 men from the 12 tribes of Israel to go and spy on the land of canaan, the land of milk and honey that God promised them. He picked 12 men from the 12 tribes of Israel and sent them out and what report did they come back with?

They all affirmed that the land was truly filled with milk and honey even as they came back with fresh fruits from the land. But, they also came back with fear and trepidation over the giants and inhabitants of that land. They gave a negative report. According to the NKJV, in Num 13: 33 we read:

“There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

From the above, we see how they were already defeated by the way they saw themselves and not even how the descendants of Anak saw them. Caleb with his partner on the journey, saw something different from the rest of the ten. He saw hope, he was courageous and saw a land they could easily posses, the land God has already given them. He tried to lift the spirits of the already demoralized people of Israel. In Num 13: 30 it says:

”Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

What a mark of brevity from Caleb! The other spies saw failure and negativity while Caleb saw abundance, conquest and success. The information brought by the majority cost the Israelites 40years in the wilderness, deaths and many loses as time went on.

This bible story is a good illustration of the power of thoughts. If you belief you will win, you will. If you believe you can’t, then you won’t. Henry Ford said:

“Whether You Think You Can, or Think You Can’t … You’re Right.”

The way you think will bring you to the full manifestation of your dreams and desires or even closer to them. You must have intense desire for whatever you set out to achieve. Thoughts are energy, they are real things. Whatever we focus our minds on consistently, we achieve.

The audacity of your thoughts is indeed necessary to change us or affect our thoughts positively.

We are in a generation where men and women loaf and wonder around lazily without a clear direction in life. They look for whom to blame for their failure or condition. They form pity parties every where. They look for ways to justify their condition and the limitations they created for themselves. We may ask, why do so many men fail since so many of them had dreams and sparkles earlier on in their lives but later couldn’t accomplish anything?  Earl Nightingale said:

“We become what we think about.”

You might say, if the mind is this rich, why don’t people use their mind anymore? Our mind comes as a standard free equipment that God freely designed for us and gave us at birth. And things that are giving to us for free, we place little value on. Things we pay money for, we value.

The paradox is that everything that is really priceless in our lives came for free; our minds, our soul, our body, our hopes, our dreams, our ambitions, our intelligence, our love of family, children and friends all came to us for free while all the things we pay money for, are replaceable and perishable, but the things we pay no money for are irreplaceable.

We take the human mind for granted, that’s why it is barely used. Familiarity breeds contempt. Earl Nightingale on success said that:

“The human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth, it contains riches beyond our wildest dream, it will return anything we want to plant.”

What thoughts are you feeding your mind with? Just know that your mind can never lay fallow. If you are think positively, positivity starts manifesting in your life. Even when you are not thinking anything, you are giving room to negativity. Suppose a farmer has a land and have the freedom to plant whatever he wants. The land is like the human mind, It doesn’t care what you plant on it. If he plants a good seed, waters it, and takes good care of it, the land will surely return what it is given bountifully. It returns a good harvest to him.

If you plants a poisonous or bad seed, surely, the land will return to you a bad harvest. If you don’t plant anything at all, weeds takes over which are as bad and as poisonous as the bad seeds, bad harvest is sure. So the choice is left for you. Plant good seeds always in your mind through the kind of thoughts you entertain. Galatians 6:7 in our holy bible says:

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

The mind doesn’t care what we plant in our mind; success or failure; a concrete worthwhile goal or confusion; courage or fear; positive or negative; riches or poverty, the mind doesn’t care at all, it returns to us harvests in direct proportion to what we sow. We use our minds for little jobs than the big jobs it can process. Norman Vincent Pearl said:

“This is one of the greatest laws in the universe, fervently do I wish I discovered it as a very young man, it dawned on me much later in life and I found it to be one of the greatest, if not my greatest discovery outside of my relationship to God and the great law briefly and simply stated that if you think in negative terms, you will get negative results, if you think in positive terms, you will achieve positive results. That is the simple fact which is of the bases of an astonishing Law of prosperity and success. In three words: believe and succeed.”

According to researches made over the years by some reputable universities, most of us use just a few percentage of our mental resources and abilities. Whether you fully believe in all we have discussed or not, it is not the case here. Just know that you produce your thoughts. The bible in Prov 23:7 said:

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

You have to decide now, what is that which you really want? Plant that goal in your mind,  it is the most important decision you will make in your life. If you want to be a better doctor, lawyer, engineer, salesman, just plant that seed in your mind. Water it and nurture it daily, work steady towards achieving that goal of yours, build a filter around your mind because your mind is a battle field. Learn to sieve and filter every information you receive, allow the positive ones and push away the negatives.

Relax and think of your goals, think of them and picture yourself in your minds eye like you have already achieved them. See yourself as doing the things you will be doing when you reach your goals. Live your life that way.

Try out this things, it worked for me and is still working for me in achieving my goals:

Write down your goals and go through them daily.

Write down a plan of action for your goals and set deadlines for achieving them.

Pray to the almighty God daily in the morning, in the night and as often as possible.

Have a daily physical exercise regime of at least 30 minutes.

Meditate and affirm what you want for your life every morning and night.

See abundance all around you instead of lack.

Have a Vision Board.

Be far away from negatives friends or friends that feed your mind negatively or discourages you.

Associate with people with positive energy and go to places you receive positive energy.

As much as you can, limit your time on listening to negative news daily whether on radio or on TV , and also limit the time you spend watching TV.

Always wake up with a smile, believing you will have a good day.

Be so preoccupied with your goal and the work of your hands that you have little or no time to waste in ideal talks.

Dress and behave like the person you want to be.

Live a life of gratitude to God.

Be open to service and to helping people in need.

Always wear a cheerful and smiling face.

Read books, listen to audio messages in your skill area and those that motivates you daily.

Watch Motivational and life impacting videos daily.

Have a To Do List and plan your programs daily, weekly and monthly.

Have a checklist for your plants and programs

Remember, thoughts are energy and make good use of it, positively in enhancing your life, and in achieving your goals. Know that we become what we think about.  Marcus Aurelius said:

“A man’s life is what his thought makes of it.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson said:

“A man is what he thinks about all day long.”

William James said:

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind”

And he also said:

“We only need in cold blood act as if the thing in question is real and it will become infallibly real by growing to such a connection with our lives, it will become real. It will be so knit with habit and emotion that our interest in it will be those that characterizes belief”

And he went further on “wish” (thought):

“If you will only care enough for a result, you will almost certainly attain it. If you wish to be rich, you will be rich, if you wish to be learned, you will be learned, if you wish to be good, you will be good. Only you must then wish of this things and wish them exclusively, and not wish at the same time a hundred  other incompatible things just as strongly.”

William Shakespeare put his this way:

“Our doubts are traitors and makes us lose the good we might win by failing to attempt.”

We end with this wonderful quote from George Bearnard Shaw. He said:

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people that get on in this world are the people that get up and look for the circumstances that they want, and if they can’t find them, they make them.”
